Friends, we have a very good response to the services offered here at Salem for next year. However, if just three (3) more people offered to help with the snack breakfast, then each one would only have to serve 3 times next year. As it is we will each serve 4 times. Think about it and let me now if you care to help. Also if anyone needs a special date to serve just let me know and I will try to work it out. You may contact me directly, or contact the church office and they will relay the information to me.
Thank you so much.

In 30 days, Bro. Renney will be taking a load of supplies down to help the Gustav evacuees. If youd like to help fill his truck, the following items are greatly needed: juices, Boost, Ensure, trail mix, all kinds of toiletries, cleaning products, baby formula/food, cereal bars, tarps, mops, non-perishable food items (especially those with pop-tops). Bring them to the library marked Renney so we dont get them mixed up with food pantry donations. Thank you!

Its time for Ingathering. Salem United Methodist Women are asking for your help in completing a kit (or kits). If you are unable to complete a kit just ask a friend to assist you. If you can complete more than one kit, thats great! A list of kits is available in the narthex or on the ledge in the church office. If you would like to give money, you may make your check payable to Salem UMC and mark it Ingathering" in the memo field. A box will be placed in the fellowship hall for all completed kits. The deadline is Nov. 9th.

This Sunday begins the first Fifth Sunday Potluck. This Sunday there will be one service at 11:00am with a Potluck immediately following in the Fellowship Hall. This is a time for people that attend the different worship services to have fellowship together.
The purpose of this Fifth Sunday tradition is to help strengthen and solidify the community of faith that is Salem United Methodist Church. |

Nothing But Nets - Mother's Day Idea |

Dear Friend,
In the first few years of our lives, our mothers held our hand, picked us up when we fell, and rocked us to sleep. They provided a healthy, happy environment and kept us safe from harm.
Nothing But Net s works to give mothers in Africa the chance to do those same things, by providing them with insecticide-treated bed nets so that they and their children have the opportunity to realize their full potential too. Pregnant mothers and children under five are the most susceptible to contracting malaria. Protective bed nets allow mothers to enjoy the simple pleasure of caring for their children, as our mothers cared for us.
This Mother's Day, honor the woman who raised you by donating in her name to Nothing But Nets and sending a bed net to another mother and child in Africa. Let her know about your gift through our personalized ecard, scheduled for delivery on Sunday, May 11, or anytime you choose.
Take this Mother's Day to reflect on what your mother has given you, and help give a mother in Africa the chance to care for her children.
Donate to Nothing But Nets in honor of your mother today.
With thanks,
The Nothing But Nets Team
